ABSCONDITUS offers the listener a rich and varied representation of Corbett’s music by presenting works that span a seventeen-year period, all but one of which are unveiled on the CD as world-premiere recordings. For this CD Sarah Plum is joined by esteemed colleagues who are advocates of contemporary music – mezzo-soprano Patricia Green, cellist Jonathan Ruck and pianist Timothy Lovelace. ...unquestionably the best presentation I have yet heard of this work [The Toybox]. Beachler is a superb narrator and Kvitko a sensitive pianist... Their ensemble is like a great singer and pianist... They bring a life to the music and text that makes this one of the most outstanding releases to come my way in a long time. The sound of voice and piano is perfectly balanced. Each hearing brings to light another nuance, and everything works so well.
