Pianist Taicheng Chen entered the Musikhochschule in Vienna at the age of fifteen and won first prize in its internal piano competition. After graduating from the Vienna Musikhochschule with a unanimous distinction concert artist diploma, he pursued graduate study at The Juilliard School in New York, where he earned master and doctorate degrees. While at Juilliard, he was the recipient of the Gina Bachauer Scholarship Award and won a contest to play Bartok’s Third Piano Concerto with the Juilliard Philharmonic Orchestra.
Dr. Chen was the prize winner at the Vienna International Music Festival Piano Competition in a performance that was televised throughout the world. The Wiener Presse praised his performance at the competition, lauding Dr. Chen as "a promising talent who stimulates one’s ears from the very first note with his vigorous and lively playing."
