Russian Romance

Maxim Rubtsov, principal flutist of the Russian National Orchestra (conducted by Mikhail Pletnev) and pianist-producer Sergei Kvitko perform a collection of Russian miniatures ranging from arrangements of beloved romances by Rimsky-Korsakov and Glinka to transcriptions for piccolo of humorous character pieces by Lyadov; from well-known masterworks such as Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise to the first ever recordings of selections from Songs of Moscow Gypsies, music collection preserved in the Russian Imperial Collection of the U.
