American Record Guide Review of "A Touch of Brazil"

American Record Guide Nov/Dec, 2005

KRIEGER: Sonatina; Sonatas Alexandre Dossin, p—Blue Griffin 125—65 min

If you like the piano as a vehicle for melodious modern romanticism you should hear Krieger's beautiful sonatas and his captivating sonatina, especially in the first-class presentation they're accorded here. Alexandre Dossin plays with an astute balance of excitement, technical finesse, and fluid expressivity; The recording is close to ideal rich but clear, truthful, and immediate.

Fanfare Reviews "The Entertainers"

Fanfare Magazine Jan/Feb 2006

THE ENTERTAINERS- Andrej Kurti (vn); Viktor Uzur (vc)- BLUE GRIFFIN BGR 109 (53:50)

Selfishly, I hope they do not return to Europe too quickly. It would be a shame to lose them so soon. All of the arrangements are by cellist Uzur. Rather than slavishly imitating the originals, Uzur has remained faithful to them while not neglecting his imagination and creativity. Generally speaking, the violin takes the place of the electric guitar and the vocals, while the cellist serves as the electric bass and drum set. I feared that the several selections from Pink Floyd's self-pitying masterpiece The Wall, for example, would be deadly dull sans vocals, but Kurti and Uzur have proven me wrong. Without changing very much, they have changed everything. The spirit of rock music is the spirit of rebellion and innovation, and no one can rightfully say that these two musicians have failed to do that on this CD.

Blue Griffin: Sergei Kvitko Discusses His Independent Label By James Reel

Blue Griffin Records features musicians you probably haven't heard of, an injustice Kvitko is determined to rectify. At age 37, Kvitko remains, to his mind, very much a performer on these CDs, even if you never hear him play a note. He considers himself a full collaborator in his dual role as producer and engineer, seeking both quality and personality from musicians and microphones alike.
