Hyeyeon Park has been described as a pianist “with power, precision and tremendous glee” (Gramophone). In her debut solo release, Park takes us on a journey through the year 1853 – when Wagner began penning The Ring of Nibelung, two of Verdi’s operas, Il Travatore and La Traviata, premiered and the founding of piano manufactures Steinway & Sons (New York) and Carl Bechstein (Berlin) occurred.

The year 1853 also traces the musical and personal relationships of a group of composers; Franz Liszt, Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, where tradition, innovation, apprenticeship and genius meet.
