This is one of the most effective readings of this famous [Beethoven] sonata I have heard. The Rachmaninoff continuous the sensation that all is right in these musicians’ world, as one might expect from a couple of Russians. They take interesting liberties with rubato and phrasing, but it sounds right and the balance between instrument s is effective.
